In the context of ongoing educational reforms in Ukraine, a key priority is the study of the pedagogical legacy and historical contributions of outstanding educational figures from the past. Among these, L. O. Vasylevska (known by her pen name, Dniprova Chaika) occupies a special place. Born in the Mykolaiv region, she spent a significant part of her life and professional career in Steppe Ukraine. A thorough analysis of her pedagogical contributions and her profound understanding of the factors shaping the younger generation amidst systematic Russification provides a foundation for critically re-examining the educational challenges of past eras. Contemporary academic discourse increasingly demands both the preservation and integration of Dniprova Chaika’s creative legacy into scholarly use, alongside a deeper reflection on her pedagogical practice. Drawing on available source materials, this publication highlights the significance of the pedagogical, cultural, and educational activities of this eminent Ukrainian writer and public figure. The life and career of Lyudmyla Oleksiyivna Vasylevska (1861–1927) were inextricably linked to the educational and cultural revival of the Steppe region at the turn of the twentieth century.
